Lots of large cents were stamped with store initials.. I have found one or two while detecting..

I don't find many stamped pennies and I save them if I do. I find lots of stamped halves though, all kinds of weird stuff, nothing that screams save me, never saved any of them.

I believe it would be legal. You are not defacing it with the intent to defraud anyone. I have seen people place advertising stickers on halves.

Nothing in this section applies to evidence of postage payment approved by the United States Postal Service.

Repeal that section, and let companies sponsor the penny for a nickel a piece. Penny turns a profit again.
