Yard Sale Find

Postby assetcoin » Fri Jun 01, 2012 6:02 am

I picked this one up at a yard sale last Friday for $1.00. Not too shabby!

Nice find. That beats my 4 little sterling collector spoons for a buck a piece last weekend.

Nice! You will turn a nice profit on that one. It's so hard to even find coins at yard sales anymore. I usually just ask, because everyone has coins, they just don't think of selling them.

I ask at every yard sale that I go to. Every one else says no, or "we did, but we sold them all a while back" In the last year I have had ONE person say yes, they have them. I bought a mixed foreign lot for $20 and it had about $10 in silver and $10 in Canadian so it was a wash but for the pound of so of common foreign stuff. So it was not a stellar purchase, but still fun to go through. Most people just look at me like I am nuts when I ask for coins. Oh well, it's not gonna stop me from asking. Got plans to hit the road tomorrow morning for some more deals! (but probably no coins)

Wonder if you could go to yard sales and see if they have a bottle or box full of change squirreled away and offer a price for that?

That's a great deal! I always forget to ask about coins when I stop at a yard sale.

What?! Some of those little spoons are sterling? I thought they were all chromed base metal or stainless. You mean to tell me now I have to pick up those ugly little things and look for a mint mark? grr..

Interesting. I picked up 71 wheats (common excepting a 21S and 32D) and some foreign currency for $4. Nestled in between the worn and tattered Mexican notes and the Japanese invasion notes were a $5 Canadian bill and a 20 Euro note. Made my weekend. This'll be the first installment payment toward a trip to Europe via Canada.

Yesterday.....down my street....garage sale....no coins....no gold...no silver....just "NO...NO...NO".

I did see some junk AVON stuff I might lowball and flip on the 'bay. I recently picked up a jewelry/music box. It needs a little work but works. I'm gonna add a bunch of junk jewelry from my metal detecting and maybe a few silver rings and see what happens. When I do, I'll post the link so everyone can see how it goes.
