Copper slugs?

Postby theshoenlebens » Fri Aug 03, 2012 3:57 pm

These spit out when I dumped my coins in the bank counter today. Are they slugs someone put in quarter rolls or what?
They are 1 inch dia. and approx. 1\32 thick and appear to be copper.

They look like planchets--preborn pennies--except they'd be 3/4" in diameter. Grade 1 planchets don't yet have the rim; Grade 2 planchets have been through the process that creates the rims.

If they're a true 1", I have no idea what they are.

Yup, they are 1 inch and yup, they have a rim. It was funny how it came about. Just started dumping in nickels and out flies these three slugs and a Canadian nickel. This is unusual in itself because this machine never spits out the rejects. It throws them on the inside of the machine where you can't recover anything
So I just picked them up and brought them home and hoped you guys will know.

Maybe planchets for some sort of transit, parking, or gaming tokens?
