Local Copper Mine

Postby Morsecode » Mon Oct 22, 2012 3:26 pm

Funny how you can live someplace for years and not know the history. Darned if I'd ever heard of these local mining operations. And here I thought Bristol was only famous for ESPN.

I've crossed over Coppermine Brook bridge about a million times, and do maintainance at a tennis club called CopperLedges...never put two & two together 8-)

That is a terrific article, Morsecode! I love reading history about old colonial coins and the first coins of our nation when it was young. Ditto on the geology lesson. Great stuff! Thanks.
When I die, I want to go like Grandpa did. He died in his sleep..... Not screaming and hollering like all the passengers in his car.

Interesting article, Morsecode. The region where I grew up in MI, was one of the country's top copper producer regions (of the early 1900s), so had a lot of defunct mines nearby, and a lot of mining history in the area.
