latest brinks box percentage

Postby kwn68 » Sat Oct 06, 2012 11:57 am

I think I've noticed some percentage drops here in Ohio. My last box yielded just 6%. I'm already counting the days till 2013s start to surface and %s drop even lower.

Had a couple of Brinks boxes last week by default, for some reason Regions had a partial shipment of them instead of all Loomis. I didn't do a quantified count, but they had about half the norm - 10-12%, vs 20-22%

Maybe residual effect from the supersorter activity of last year into this year.

Last week I got six boxes of 2012s (3 Brinks, 3 Loomis), and also 3 Brinks boxes with clear wrappers that were 95+% copper (over 17 lbs.). Higher percentages than normal overall (20% is normal for me).

Lots of 2012 in the mix now. Wasn't like that a few months ago. My 30% average has now become about 28%. Still pretty good when I do over $1000 per month, I still get about $280 in copper. I have switched to a hopper feeding a comparator and can do a $50 bag in about 20 minutes. Hopefully I can find a buyer for my $1000 in copper.

I to have noticed a drop. Good boxes still yield ~20%. However worse boxes are becoming the norm. Are the good ol days numbered?

Still averaging 25% to 27% with Brinks boxes in the SE. I did have a run last year of skunks, lasted about a month.

My last two brinks boxes were in the 15-16% range which is a bit below the normal 17-18% range here on the west coast.

My last set of 4 $25 bricks produced a nice healthy 26%

my norm is more like 23-24

My latest bags reveal the same....Twice as many shield cents on average from only a year ago....I'm also averaging about 28% copper now....haven't seen a 30% bag in awhile....I use to get them all the time...Wheats and Canadian copper averages per bag dropping off as well....

i agree,
my last bag (this week) yielded less than 10 percent, and very few wheats, but the wheats were good, several "s", and a 1919 and 1920. not bad for down in florida.

Not all brinks, mostly loomis, but my bank orders for the last month have all had about 3 boxes out of 8 that were all new 2012s. My vault teller doesn't even give them to me; he knows what I want.

My percentages have dropped below 20 (in the mix boxes, not even counting the all shield boxes)

I'm doing ~26-28% on average right now and it's steadily declining. It was 31% in 2010 in my area and I still have some of those boxes in my stash that I occasionally run make me feel better.

Over the weekend I did several boxes and came up with a 22% average. I remember getting in the 30% range back a few years ago, but I guess there were a fewer Ryedales back then also, lol.

I've had some sub 25% boxes as well but still am not seeing anything over 30% like I used to, seem to be topping out at 28% max. I've seen better loomis boxes later this year, working on a box right now that had 3 wheats in a roll, and found a 35D wheat in another roll. Wheat average per box still seems to be somewhere between 10-15. Can't comment on brinks boxes, don't bank at BOA.

The Brinks boxes and rolls that I've acquired lately here in Central Ohio from two different Huntington Bank branches have been almost 100% Zinc. I'm starting to think that Brinks is pulling out CU.
I bought $10.00 of Brinks rolls yesterday from a Chase branch that does not usually have Brinks rolls - these were almost 100% CU. Go figure.

I don't like asking for CWR's but I may have to start being a little pesky to get the rolls I need.

See older threads, the primary reason for this question in the first place is that Brinks had, for a time, a contract to pull out coppers. That contract was apparently cancelled before being fully fulfilled, but some of the aftermath seems to remain, including some near 100% copper boxes, some near 100% zinc boxes, and a generally slightly lower overall percentage.

I have generally been getting around 20% or just under. I did open one box a few weeks ago that was about 5%. Nice fast hand sorting

I opened a Brinks box yesterday that was solid plastic wrapped 2012s. Brilliantly shiny. I laughed, sealed it, and put it in storage. Some of my family members have been wanting some shiny new 2012s.

I have been getting averages of between 23 - 27% consistently, Although they are starting to drop off. These have been accomplished manually. Not sure if I want to invest in a Ryesdals machine with levels like these. These have been all brink boxes. My dump bank is the only place that I can get loomis boxes and really don't want to uspet the apple cart here. There is another service in the area Dunbar buy I don't know where to pick them up;.

I do plan on getting in tough with my dump bank (free coin counting system) to see if I can get some Kennedy's or Eisenhower coins just to see what I can get from them. I've been told that they were get the coins but the value has to be on deposit with them before they order. This week I will be taking the plunge with this bank. Off course I have to promise that I won't dump the coins at the bank, which will not be a hardship at all.
Don't look back. Something may be gaining on you.

Neither a penny or a nickel is worth face value anymore.

I'm just a poor wayfaring stranger.
