just thought a few would enjoy this story.

Havent been on in a month or so but thought a few of you might enjoy this story.
Had a guy call from my ad on Cl asking if I bought pennies. Usually it turns out to be someone with a few rolls or so and not usually the brightest people since my ad cleary says I'm buying pennies. I only have wheats listed for the buy though.
I reply with I may be interested, what do you have?
He tells me he has 1100 in pre 81 pennies. I'm thinking to myself, great another person that read or seen something to save them and wants 2.X each because thats what he read they are worth. I respond with "you have 1100 Pre 1981 pennies?" He says no $1100dollars in pre 81'S    now he has my attention lol. He also asked if I would be willing to give him more then if he just took them back to the bank!!!   .
Wait it gets better. we strike a deal of course, then find out these were ROLLED in 1981 not sorted for pre 81's            .
Turns out his buddy's grandpa saved them and stopped in 81 for what ever reason and had them and never looked at them again. They are all in original $50 penny bank boxes, which I've never seen before and are all dated with the day they were rolled and placed away. They even say circulated or uncirculated on the outside and also machine or hand rolled. Tape is old as can be and you can easily tell they have been sealed for yrs. I popped one open and seen what I wanted to see. A couple of wheat on the ends plus a canadian. I have no idea what to do with them if I should open or what. For now I plan on just keeping them how they are and throwing them in the closet for a later date.
Just thought I'd share a great story that only a fellow penny guy/girl could enjoy!
And yes I asked about others. They took $500+ in 90% to the local pawn shop  but there is another 100 "old dollars" that I think I will be getting soon once I shot him a ballpark offer.

Probably stopped because they changed composition to zinc in '82 :!: Grandpa probably would be a member here on RC. Heck, he's a proto type of the membership here. Ask him if Grandpa was related to anyone by the name of Ryedale

That's awesome. Good deal for you and he gets more than a bank would have given him.

Great Deal!
Actually, he was most likely happier that he did not have to haul them to the bank himself.

I propose that you sell a few rolls at the next KSA.
