Anybody turning raw copper into rounds?

Postby FatherRosado » Sun Nov 25, 2012 5:25 pm

Hi,
I know there are companies who will take your raw silver and turn it into rounds or other products for a percentage of the raw silver. Is there anyone who does this with Copper. I have about 10 pounds of raw copper sitting here.
I like collecting Gold and Silver. I prefer the Silver stuff. God Bless You.

someone else can go into more detail as my time is currently limited. The simple answer is at this time it is not economical to do so and you will be paying a hefty premium. You are probably better off just keeping the pipe or wire or whatever even though the though of copper rounds does sound sooooooo appealing.
Soooo... Is it just me or is a chart of US debt looking dangerously parabolic?

Copper rounds? No, but it does sound interesting. Maybe someday there will be a large market for them. I have some bronze commemoratives. No reason you couldn't make pure copper ones, too.

How about just making your own ingots? Maybe someday I will have time for these, too.

Not to mention they always look rough and unprofessional. Some people like that look, but if you want them to look nice and clean like most silver rounds and bars, then making them yourself won't work...

I did some copper bars, I think I spent about $20 in gass to melt about $6 worth of metal.

My local gold smith told me he can do that but he would not do it for me because he would have to charge me so much to cover the costs that he would feel bad doing it.

I have some copper rounds and ingots! I like the look of them, but I probably won't get anymore of them due to the high premiums. Maybe if the prices drop on them, I will consider getting more. I personally like the shiny copper better than
the raw look. Good to have some copper in any form though

I've been focusing on silver rounds lately.

Those are very easy to get in abundance. I have about 3,000 of them myself.
