Silver in a penny box!

Postby NHsorter » Thu Dec 13, 2012 8:24 am

Unwrapping 2 boxes of Loomis cents last night and I heard the ring! First time I have ever pulled a silver dime from a penny roll. I rarely find any dimes in Loomis rolls. I find dimes all the time in bags and customer wrapped, but still never any silver ones. I showed it to my wife and with a smirk she said "I bet you can't wait to go and show your penny friends" - Yup!

EDIT: randomly saw a few wheatbacks sticking up as I was unrolling and pulled a 1917, 1920, 1924 & 1930 so I am thinking that maybe there will be something else nice in here when I sort them (TONIGHT!)

" Penny friends " sounds better than drinking buddies.

I have never found silver in my pennies, only steel

Nice,

Had been wondering if anyone else had found a silver dime in a penny bag. Got one myself early on.

I met a woman who said she found a 1870's quarter eagle in a dime box!

300x what the coin in that roll should have been worth! Can't beat that kind of return.

That's great! I found a 1928 Mercury dime in a cent box this week. As well as many clad dimes. I think something is wrong with Brinks because they are putting a lot of dimes in with the cents.

Nice find thripp! The silver dime I found was the only dime in the box. Which I found strange. I very rarely find dimes in bank wrapped. CWR cents more so. And of course tons of dimes in penny bags.
