Ugly Wheats

Postby scyther » Wed Feb 20, 2013 4:32 pm

I have 6 wheat pennies that are either badly corroded, or cleaned with lemon juice (by me). Should I keep them separately, put them in with the wheats, or put them in with the ugly coppers? Are they worth anything more than a cent?

I throw damaged and ugly wheat cents in with my copper hoard. They really have no numismatic value, unless a key date.

Yeah, that was really what I wanted to know... they aren't worth anything more than face/copper value, then? How bad does one have to be for it to not be worth anything? I was under the impression that all wheats were worth like 3 cents each, but is it just the good looking ones?

If you get enough of them in a pile.....someone will buy them on ebay. Been there and done it!! Even corroded ones out of the ground from metal detecting.....someone will buy 'em!!!!
