Monster Bag! 19 Indians + more

Postby NHsorter » Mon Mar 18, 2013 10:21 am

$50 lobby counter bag netted 19 Indian Heads. One of which is AU and probably about $22 on numismedia. Bag also had about 150 BU Red wheats in it and another 150 wheats that would be AU at least, but are cleaned. None of the BU wheats are good dates though, all 1956 or newer. Also got hundreds of common wheats from the 50's. Funny thing is that I probably only got 20 wheats from the 40's. None from the 20's or 30's and just 2 from 1919. It's always fun to crack open a bag and realize that you might as well just hand sort the whole thing instead of bothering with the ryedale. This bag also had a bunch of BU coins from the 60s and 70s too.

So of course I headed right back to the bank. They had another penny bag (regular contents) a dime bag (found 12 silvers, so pretty cool) and a nickel bag (still need to sort, but I see a war and a buffalo peeking through the plastic at me)

The half bag in the counter is only 10% full, so I guess I need to go dump $900 in there so I can get the bag. Don't know what they will think about that since I have never dumped there, but they won't sell partial bags, I ask all the time.

I almost said something at the bank. Wanted to ask if a little old widow came in with a bunch of coins. Did not say anything. What I should have asked was if there were any coins that the machine would not take, like large dollars!

With all those IHCs, I feel like there should be more stuff in other bags. I know it is not a certainty, but I guess we'll see how the nickels work out if I can get to them tonight. This machine holds multiple bags for each denomination, so maybe the next dime bag will be loaded up with silver, or the next nickel bag. I perused the full quarter bag that they had off of the machine, but I could not see any evidence of anything good in it so I passed on it.

Has anyone had success silver sorting quarters with a ryedale???? Man, it is sweet to rip through a bag of dimes in such short order!

I'm pretty sure there is a wheel for it, but the plastic chute from the hopper to the comparator isn't wide enough.

I'll get a pic tonight. I still have them all laid out. Hopefully I'll have some nice nickels to clutter up the pic.

This one bag at least doubled the size of my tribe!

  Aww, geez. Thanks Ray, but I can think of a bunch of nicer guys on this site that it could have happened to. I don't think it is "nice" to keep working on my plan to own every copper cent in the history of man, but I continue on

The nickels were nothing special. 2 war nickels and 1 dateless buffalo. Can't believe that I could see them all from the outside and nothing else decent was in there. Oh well, it was fun to think that I was gonna score a few rollso f war nix. Here is a pic.
