What's a scancoin? Never heard of it, but then I'm a newbie.

This winter I have been concentrating on nickle and dime roll hunting. I still do cents too, but figured I would try the silver hunt. I have found 2 bucks in silver dimes and 7 war nickles. I think the amount of Canadian and foreign coins, plus short rolls makes it not worth sorting for silver, unless I hit a good couple rolls one of these days.. I think I will go back to pennies for the rest of the winter.. but Ill tell you one thing, I am not moving my penny hoard again!

It is a manufacturer name. One thing they make (do they make other things), is coin counting devices. I have a SC303 (scan coin, model 303) myself. It can count about 2500 dimes a minute, or about 2200 pennies a minute (by my own timings). They (mine) is very accurate for all coins, other than dimes. On dimes, I get about 0 to 2 coins under on a $1000 count. So I do dimes until I get 3 identical counts.

You can find these sometimes on fee bay for a couple bills.
