nice easter surprise

Postby JobIII » Mon Apr 25, 2011 8:31 am

Breaking open penny rolls over the weekend, I came across a NF string roll with an IHC on the end. It's showing the reverse so i don't know the date, and there's no mint mark. Kind of tempted to keep it wrapped.

Either way this is a first for me and was a nice bonus around the holiday.

cheers,
jobiii

Ebay it as "unsearched."

Nice find.

Keep the hope, all be it probably false, that there are more inside. Really no reason not to open unless you are planning to market the roll as "unsearched". At least by you....

Either way, good score on the Indian. I say open it.

Send it to me, I'll open it. :P

Or, list it in the For Trade section here. I'm sure you'd get some lucrative offers from a few of us penny monkeys.

Hi all,

I think i'll be opening the roll tonight, maybe... It's kind of like unopened booster packs from playing cards or old sports packs. By not opening the roll you can hold on to the illusion that there's something really special in that roll.

For me the best way to search the rolls is the look and see if any nice coins are showing on the outside of the rolls first. If you find any, hold them for last. That way you know at least those rolls will yield something, and it ends the box with a find versus nothing.

I agree with your searching method. You already know you have something definitely special in that roll...an IHC. I STILL have not found one searching rolls yet and it will soon be three years. I know it is just luck of the draw, amount sorted, where you live, etc. Oh well. Happy for you, JobIII.

Thanks for sharing.

Enjoy your coin searches, everyone. :geek:

What was the rest of the rolls like? Was it a box full of copper? Wheats? Of course answering that question will probably lower the price of your roll. ;)
