Very nice bag/little help needed

Postby NotABigDeal » Sat May 14, 2011 6:15 pm

I don't usually report my searches, but a nice one came along and I thought I would share. And like everything else about me, there's a story....

Okay, I do not typically search my pennies. But about a month or so ago I noticed dozens of wheats coming out of the Ryedale, as well as the typical dimes. I looked at the bag and saw it had quite a few wheats that I could see. Well, I couldn't in good faith just let all the wheats go, so I sat the bag aside for searching at a later date, hehe.

Fast forward a month or so:

I went to see a friend of mine who is huge into metals, and he loves wheats, so I took this bag and $1100 in halves that I picked up this morning. First we sorted the halves. Two bags, one $900 exact and one $200 exact. Out of the $900 I found one Franklin. Okay start for me. The $200 bag was even better. Oddly there were tons of bicentennials in there. But the good part was that the bag contained one '64 JFK, one Franklin, and 11 40%ers. There was also a 2005 Australian WWII Coming Home commemorative. It has a 20 on it. Reeded edge and maybe silver? Any ideas?
Not a glamorous silver find I know, but it was a cool start to a cool coin searching afternoon. I'll take it....

After lunch we go after the pennies. A very nice bag, and the best part is that I had a witness that can appreciate the cool finds. We did not sort for copper, just goodies.

Finds:

507 wheats including an '11 D, '13 D, '18 S, and many lower dates.
3 Indian heads. Dates of '64, '00, and one is unreadable due to damage. I'm sure is an '09 S, hehe.
44 dimes
2 silver dimes. Both Roosevelt.
2 Canadian George V's.
10 other Canadian all VI's and young queens.
I need help with this next one. Not positive on what side is ob- or re- verse, hehe.
1941. Silver in color with a reeded edge, and rings like silver but I'm still skeptical. Coat of arms in the center with date below. Above is "NEDERL INDIE.". 1/4 to the left and a large G to the right. That's the easy side. The other side : Maybe a large seven pointed sun with odd writing/squiggles between the rays. In the center of the sun-thing, there is what appears to be Arabic writing, or some form similar. That's it.

The best part was having him there to see it. He couldn't believe it. That's my story.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
