Would you trade your aluminum cans for copper cents?

Postby Derek.Sheriff » Sat May 21, 2011 9:13 pm

I posted an offer on the want to buy / trade thread, but no responses yet. I'm just curious though. If someone in your area offered to pay you 40 copper cents per lb of aluminum cans you had saved, would you sell? If you don't save cans, would this motivate you to start?

Personnally I would since I am hoarding copper. It would also require to be as simple as dropping the cans at the yard.

i think its definately a fair price

however, all my proceeds from aluminum cans get turned into lead and devices to propel said lead :D

So you'd trade guns and / or ammo for cans at the rate of .40 per pound? :P

Yep. My plan was to do pre-arranged pick up's or meet the customer at location of their choice.

Around here we get $1.75 per pound.. so no, I wouldn't trade my aluminum can hoard for .40 a pound.. but if you were to offer 1.80.

Wow! I thought aluminum was only at $1.11 a pound right now. Is there a deposit involved or am I missing something?

Yes.. CRV accounts for a big percentage of the price out here in CA.. we are not getting nearly the amount you other guys are getting for the actual scrap value.

Looks like a good deal. 1909-1982 Cent (95% copper) * $0.01 $0.0270388 270.38%

40 x .0270388 = $1.08 a pound. I am getting .70 for alum cans by me
