Circle markings?

Postby thaler » Fri Jun 10, 2011 4:55 pm

I've found quite a few newer cents lately that have a partial circle "etched" into the obverse. It's very symmetrical to the cent itself, kinda like something stamped it. What is this?

This happens whenever the rolling machine crimps the end of the roll. It scratches the cents that are exposed.
