Steel penny in Machine Wrapped Roll?

This may be a silly question, but is this something that could even happen? I have personally found many dirty dimes and foreign coins in my machine wrapped rolls, so it makes me wonder if it is possible that one day I could potentially find a steel penny. What are everyone's thoughts on this?

I don't see why not. I'm not familiar the rolling machines but I wouldn't think they would or could differentiate. Like you said, if dimes make it in there, why not? I'm sure others will know better. If, in fact, ANYONE has ever found one in a machine wrapped roll it's a pretty darn good chance they are a member of this site

I've found several since January. Two were fairly clean, the other was rusted badly.

I would say yes Franklin my son the sorter has found a few 2 euro cents steel and Canadian steel cents. So if you are thinking that the steel might be the hold up for the machine wrapped it did not stop them.

Isn't it true that some commercial coin sorter have magnets to weed out steel coins? I've found at least 15 of every 1940's cents, except for a 1943, not a single one. Maybe people hoarded them asap when they have gotten them over the years, since they stick out, but who knows.

I've found them in both String and Brinks rolls.

I know that the coin sorters have magnets the Cummings do today we found two Canadian quarters but wedged behind them was a US quarter and a US dime. So my thought that if it makes it past the magnets they make it in to the roll.

yep, even with magnets, they are out there. i have found a few in string rolls.

During the last five months of hand sorting string rolls I have found one BU and three average circulated '43's.

Yes, it is very possible to find a steelie almost anywhere you get pennies. Some places have magnets that pull everything out but other places don't. Coin wrappers themselves do not have magnets attached to them so since its the same size a normal penny it will get wrapped.

I have found 7 so far! All in string rolls.

I've found several in Brinks/Loomis rolls. Of course more in loose bags. I've set up magnets on my chutes on my Ryedale that catch any steel coins that pass through. Most are lower quality, but I've found a few that definately have not been in circulation since '43.

Still have not found a single 1943. Over $5000 fv sorted and not a one 1943. I've found 2 Indians plus a George V, but never a 1943. Maybe one day...

Today Franklin and I were dumping zinc at the CU and the teller gave us a 43-S that he got out of a roll that day for are change back from the dump. It is nice when the tellers help out

I got my first 43' last week, but It didn't come from circulation. While my father-in-law was showing me some of his coins, he found a 43' in fair condition at the bottom of his coin box. He knew I was on a quest for a 43' to fill my book, so he gave it to me since he has rolls of them. I guess it's kind of cheating since my goal was to fill my book with cents that I found in the wild, but I figured I'd let it slide since 43's are tough to find. Now just gotta find those 2 others

Once again, though, some steel blanks left over from the 1943 batch were left in the machine and some 1944 steel wheat pennies were made by accident.
