Fair Price for Wheat Cent Lot

Postby NHsorter » Mon Jun 13, 2011 6:41 pm

I have someone local selling a couple thousand searched wheat pennies. It is a "best offer" sort of deal and I was wondering what the market value of plain old searched circulated wheat cents was. I would like to pick these up, but I don't want to pay too much. I have never bought or sold pennies, I just stack them. :D

I'd shoot for melt. They are easy to get stuck with.

Since they're searched and I'm assuming by "local" you will have no shipping I would think 3.5 cents each would be a fair price. I know my local dealer only pays 2 cents each.

3.5-4 cents each seems to be the going rate.

I purchased 2000 for $75 + $5 shipping. If your purchasing local with cash in hand I'm sure you could get them cheaper than I did.
