I knew that feeling when finding a 1909s with the date and mint mark completely drilled out.
If I have the gift of prophesy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to move mountains but do not have love I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned but do not have love it profits me nothing.

I've never found a holed wheat, but who knows, maybe sometime soon. Keep sorting and you'll find something good. Yesterday, I found a Kennedy counterstamped penny while searching copper for wheats. Also, a King George VI.
Today my luck was very bad with silver in 2 boxes of halves...
S happens :) Keep searching...

Then how did you know it was a 1909s?

Well there is no way you could prove it's not a 1909s

Before I began hand sorting the oldest wheat in my collection was from the early thirties, no, I can't remember the exact date right now, (CRAFT).
I picked it up from a gas station pump island where it was scuffed, run over, trounced on, bent, folded, mutilated.

 (ebay ad: Slight post mint damage to a true collector coin forces serious sale price reduction. Buy it now for $234.97)

So yeah, I know how how you feel. A pox on the home boy/girl who couldn't be bothered with a penny in their pocket. Shame. Like they say: They don't make 'em like that anymore.

My thought exactly!

I actually did find a 1909s with a hole in just about the same place as the one posted. If and when I find it, I will post a pic.
