May have lucked into a rich ore

Postby Morsecode » Mon Jul 18, 2011 12:08 pm

Stopped by the lesser used credit union branch this morning to see about some cwr's. Teller says they just got in 100 rolls five minutes ago..."some kid brought them in"

Hmmm...that could be good or bad, I'm thinking, as I drive home with the lot.

Opened 6 rolls and so far found 30 1982, 2 1983, 3 1984, & 1 1985...the rest are pre '82, with lots of shiny bu '78, '79. And no uglies, even among the '60s. Two wheats.

I probably just jinxed myself by blabbing too early, but this would be my best haul percentage-wise if it holds up.

In the end the rolls averaged 3 post '82 zincs per roll, and the newest cent dated 1986. What I found odd was the less than 14% copper '82...358 zn to 58 cu. Overall, something like $43 out of the $50 was cu.

Now, back to reality...

Some kids selling off their dads, or grandads, penny hoard. I've run into a couple of those.
