1982 Proof Set tokens

Does anyone know the metal content of the proof set tokens from the 82 proof sets? They were used only one year as a hole filler because the SBA dollar was discontinued in 1981. A while back I bought a roll of them off ebay thinking they maybe copper. I am pretty sure they weigh the same as the SBA because in my coin book, the SBA weighed 8.1 grams and on my postage scale, one token weighed 8 grams. Scale doesn't do tenths of grams. Any info would be appreciated. If they are copper, I will be on the lookout for more.

Nice idea, in theory, Rob. Personally, I'd concentrate my efforts on bigger fish (as they say). The 1982 proof set is the lowest valued US Mint offering in the Coin Dealer Newsletter (aka The Grey Sheet).

Seeing your posting, I decided to look it up in my 08-19-2011 issue of the Grey Sheet just received yesterday. Bid price on the 1982 proof set is $2.75. The closest competitor is the 1985 at $3.00.

Maybe I will just buy all the 82 proof sets I can. Who knows, when TSHTF someone might take them as currency. They are the same size as the SBA. Thanks for the info.
