Postby bob2 » Sat Apr 16, 2011 4:33 pm

i am a modest noobie, ive only done about $300 worth so far, but i need a little help
1st: What banks in Michigan allow you to bring in unrolled pennies for free?
2nd: Where do you sell your batches of pennies? I've done mine on ebay, but i feel like people use other sites...
Thanks!

you can sell them here

Bob,

Where in MI do you live? I know some of the Chemical branches up there will count loose coin.

I think ecrater charges a fee for sellers though.

ecrater is free. The only fees you'll deal with is paypal.

How great would it be if they added a copper bullion section?

I emailed and asked them.. If I sell there, I will set my base price at 1.75 plus shipping. Hope no one starts undercutting too much...

Maybe all of us realcent folks could manipulate the copper penny market like bigger movers and shakers do to the silver market. ;)

Just kidding, but it would be nice to see a copper section there. Maybe in a few months/years as they get on their feet.

Where in Michigan are you at Bob?

TCF banks have free coin counters in each of their branches for customers. You can open a savings without any fees if you keep at least $100 in there. Another bonus for them is they are open 7 days a week, and most of there branches are open until 6 during the week.

And at least in the great state of Wisconsin you also get $100 in cash for opening the account.

I see people on ebay avarege about 100% mark up. I still havent decided if it's worth it to take pix and put em on there or not. So I'm still just keeping em.

I don't understand "I've done mine on ebay, but i feel like people use other sites..."? Are you saying you don't like selling on ebay? Or are you thinking you would have a bigger market elsewhere?

I have posted an ad or two on Craigslist at 2X face and no bites so far. I am OK with that. I would rather stack em up high than sell them for less than 2X right now. It was too much darn work to sort these. I am not gonna drop my drawers this early in the game.
