Where are you located?

Postby aaa30040 » Fri Apr 22, 2011 3:35 pm

I'm new to the board, located in Georgia, and getting copper counts below everyone else here (usually 15% or less). Are there a lot of copper sorters in Georgia?

I'm in GA also..18-20%. I'm in middle Ga, have not ran across another sorter in my area yet.

I guess this thread answers you question about the # of sorters.. :D

Your problem down there is too much economic growth! Up here in the Rust Belt (Eastern Indiana), I enjoy a near-30% average in copper.

But hey, I'd gladly trade my awesome percentage for Right To Work status up here!

Enjoy your searches.

GA is not the best place to sort if you want high percentages. You should sort your pennies in Maine so you can double your yield. Based on your percentage I would place you close to Atlanta.

Copper percentages are only about 20% out here in CA.. so "I just sort more!" I would rather sort in Indiana, but the gas would kill me.

I'm finding about 25-28% copper here in NW Oregon. Seems like less wheats than others report though? I'm only finding a couple per $25 box.

I like hearing the percentages in circulation going down...that means my pennies are going up! Keep on sortin'!

I agree with you. I have always felt that when finding a copper penny in circulation gets to be as hard as finding a wheat in circulation is today then our piles of copper will be worth 5 or 6 times face and maybe more. I hope the percentages continue to drop.

You should drive out some time, go to a bunch of banks and pick up lots of boxes where 1 out of every 3 pennies is a copper one. Those are the boxes I know and love.

I captured some boxes of pennies out in AZ and smuggled them across the border when I visited my Mom. Had a wonderful time getting them past the TSA. Of course liberating cents from AZ is not the best idea.. their copper percentage is even lower than GA. I will try to get my mom to move to a better location.

Nah, that would just be too easy. Some of us work for our copper.

Located here in the Los Angeles area. I experience a low 16% cu rate and a dismal 40% '82 cu rate. I average 5 wheats and 3 Canadian cu's per $25 string box. My #'s are low and I jokingly attribute that to the workings of "Hoardcopperbytheton".

Fortunately I will be moving to Oregon this summer and I was looking forward to seeing all my numbers go up...until I learned that "Highroller" aka "The Portland Mint" was doing his damage in the Portland area. Sometimes a guy can't buy a break. :x

Omaha, Nebraska I have been around 30% here on my first $1,500FV. I am enjoying sorting these pennies too much.

Why, the proper action for low copper % is the same as the action for high copper %, just sort more...according to HCBTT.... :D

try bank bags and customer rolls. Your percentages might increase a tad. ;)

South Texas. Cu is about 12%. Ag is one good dime for every 3 boxes sorted...but the Mexican food is great here. Y'all ever eaten a gordita with carne asada? Yumyum.
