Finished the rest of the zincs from one $50 bag.

Ended up with a 1909 Philly wheat hiding in there.

Do you know around what time common/late wheats became worth searching for? I've always wondered about that...

Some time in early 1959 :D

I can recall a friend's father who already had multiple bags of wheats by the mid-sixties, all pulled from circulation, not bought. No doubt there were plenty of others around the country doing the same.

I meant how long did it take before they could reliably sell for more than face value.

2 more WAMS today. Both 2000. One very nice   , the other beat up a little  :( .

Since posting this I got another decent 1998 WAM.

Makes 3 found today in the small pile I took to the dump when I was done searching. Total at the bank was $106.26. Not bad odds.

WAAAAY back in the day, back in the late 50s and early 60's, my mom (she's 63 now) used to sort penny bags with my grandpa (he's 85) and they pulled out the Indians. They were actually searching for the 55 doubled die. Wonder how long it would take to put together a roll of Indians then.
