So, where are the billions and billions of cents that have been produced. If the Fed doesn't have them, and the Treasury doesn't have them, then they are either in the back of bank vaults, or in jars in homes around the country.

I am responsible for a large number of them. I am buying rolls EVERYDAY (except Saturdays and Sundays). I went to/stopped at 29 different banks this week. The window will close, but I will have a "job" for awhile. Even when the window is shut, I will still target silver halves and older nickels.

I am in Minnesota and the Minneapolis distribution center is on the list. I asked my bank today and they told me they are not supposed to sell bags of cents anymore. They are keeping them for their business customers. I asked if I brought in a bags worth of cents could I get a bag from them and they said they could do that for me. So I can still search for copper.

Some banks are open on Saturdays till noon or 1. I was able to get to three more banks this morning, giving me a total of 32 for the week. One of the banks had a three dollar limit (6 rolls), which is fine for me because I rarely go to that bank and I don't have an account there either.

Went to a Chase bank branch today and the teller said they could only sell me $1 worth of pennies. The twist was she said next year pennies are going away and nobody will take them. What? Oh, and she said that in a way that they will not be legal tender. What, again? I just kind of was incredulous at that.

If you go to a different branch, you will probably get a different story. A different answer to the same question. One teller (out of millions) cannot be taken seriously.
