Oh wow, I have my own testing Lab out at work with everything I need to do this, except the Zinc powder. I even have 2-3 Pallets (over 4 tons) of Sodium Hydroxide at my displosal :)

Hey Scotty...I have a pallet of zinc...I need a beaker big enough for several hundrend pounds of zincolns now wouldnt that freak out the teller at the next dump!

Lol, yeah a neat way to mark your dumps.......:) Messing around with Sodium Hydroxide though can be dangerous because of the high PH of the chemical. It can burn your skin severly in a matter of seconds. The guys(roughnecks/derrickmen) out at the rig(s) that I have mixing this stuff have to wear thick aprons, rubber gloves up to the elbows, safety glasses and a face sheild just to cut a sack and drop it into a mixing barrel with water. They are also wearing long sleeve coveralls under all of that.

Wow, that's cool. Real scientists, i.e. not "computer ones", can always do some extremely cool stuff!

Interesting video. Over the years of hand sorting I've found a handful of golden cents. I know
others have too. I read somewhere where it had something to do with zinc blanks getting
through to the bath process and dissolving, causing the plated cents to turn golden, or something
like that.

I have 2 indian heads one is silver one is gold I got them in a roll of indians and wondered for the longest time what happened to them untill I seen a video of this process on youtube.

Coolest JH project was a Naked Lady letter opener Cast in Pot-metal an polished 8-) think I got .50 for a couple ;)
that was 61 years ago :o
