Coinhoarder iPhone App - Beta Testers Needed

Hello everyone!

I have been developing an iPhone app based around telling you the value of your hoard, and helping you manage it :)

The app is called "Coin Hoarder"

We're almost ready to launch on the App Store and I am reaching out for Beta Testers!

Our Beta Testers will receive a free copy of the app on final release. Anyone ready to help us test last bugs out of this baby?

Will it work for the iPad too?

Yes although you'll need to stretch it at first until we get the iPad specific code written.

Could you describe its functions, does it calculate pounds or face value into current melt value?
Sounds pretty cool.

Is this for the iphone only, or will it work for android? There is a poll in the members only for iphone vs droid, droid is currently ahead.

It will be iPhone only to start. We'll be porting it to Android as soon as we've got some proven sales traction (We've invested almost $10K to date on development...so I'm not sure if it will ever generate positive returns...hope so!)

It calculates the melt value of copper, nickel and silver in coinage, and allows you to keep track of the aggregate melt value of your personal hoard.

In the future, we'd love to incorporate "bump" type technology into it so that you can transfer coinage between people and have it automatically debit your hoard and credit your friend's hoard, for instance.

I'll round up installation instructions tonight from the coders and we can begin ironing out the wrinkles together :)

I'll be PMing everyone that expresses interest in beta testing with instructions for how to install the app in the next day or two.

Thanks for your interest and help!

I'm dusting this app off and distributing in the next week! Just a reminder to anyone interested in beta testing to let me know on this thread.

I hope to have the final release out this fall. I'm registering the app with Test Flight (https://testflightapp.com/) for public Beta testing this week. I basically just need a name and email address from anyone that would like to Beta test (I'll PM everyone that indicated interest here requesting emails...but please feel free to PM me yours if you'd like to sign up) and then we're off to the races.

Fun stuff :) I'm glad to be within reach of the finish line on this project. Long time coming.

Off topic, if you don't mind the question , what's the profitability outlook on something like this in terms of time / cost invested versus possible sales price and volume and your net on the end ?

I have a heck of a time tracking my ounces of silver, let alone all the pennies and other coins with variable metal content. I don't use iPhone or Android anyway.. Skynet is too risky ;)

When all is said and done we'll I'll have spent nearly $14,000. To get repaid that $14,000 we'll need $20,000 in revenue as Apple takes 30% off the top. So at 4.99 we'd need to sell just over 4,000 copies.

We'll soon see. Either we'll lose money or we won't.

I'm interested in giving it a try. Will it keep track of Canadian coinage as well? I like the idea and would use it.
