Has anyone ever scanned a penny with a XRF gun ??? Ive seen them at scrap yards before. There not cheap. I was just wondering what the results would be.

I had a Canadian penny scanned with the Niton. It was a young queen. It was silicon bronze. When I scrapped them out, that was the metal I was selling, not #1 or # 2 copper...

I think this chart below will help explain why some wheats are "rejected".
I will be doing some further "alloy" studies, and comparing them to more recent coins, like 1980 1981 1982 coppers (what I use as my standard/sample/reference coin).
Most of these are coins my personal Ryedale "rejected"
