wheat cent value?

Postby joemac » Fri Dec 30, 2011 8:58 am

I've got a line on 1200 wheat cents. He has started negotiation at .10 per. I'm thinking a little lower. What is the going rate for circulated wheat cents. I believe they are unsorted in the context that they are all in a jar.

I buy them from my local coin store for 3 cent each this includes the 43's. Of course he has picked throught them but that is still a good price. This is in Southern Illinois.

I would ask to take a look at them first. If they are common 40's and 50's then I personally would not pay much over 3 cents each, but if you see some older ones in there or any special ones then you can quickly be ahead of the game even if you pay 0.10 each for the lot.

Shameless plug, I have $100 face boxes of wheats (2 left - 40's/50's) for $340 shipped, been in the B-I-N section for weeks. They are NOT flying off the shelf at that price (although two have sold). It's the best price I remember seeing on this site, the best site on the web for the venerable LINCOLN CENT!
