I got a couple of those but they came in a bag of misc stuff that I bought at an estate auction. Somebody must have broke up a mint set for the money.

If you want to start one. Put Franklin down for 1 D mint found in 2012. And three P mint in 2011

BTW I was at the coin shop one day last week and one clerk was opening sets and pulling the silver and said they were worth more broken up for the silver than hole.

Anybody know what the metal content of those tokens are? In the pictures it has a brassy look.

Copper plated zinc maybe?

I would guess they are the same content of the penny. They are exactly the same size and my two are "P" mintmark and weigh the same as a zinclon. Since they are not dated, I suspect older (pre 82) ones would be the 95% Cu variety.

That makes sense. Thanks mutiger. Us handsorters just have to know those things. :)

I don't think they were in mint sets until AFTER 1982 though. Someone want to verify that?

EDIT: the answer is, they were included in mint sets starting in 1984. So the most likely answer is that they are copper plated zinc.
