Any idea? Do you think people will pay outrageous amounts for the first boxes like they did last year?

The first 2011 was found by this group was February 6 2011 see--http://www.realcent.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2390&hilit=+2011+first so I would think sometime in February.

I would expect the first people to get them onto ebay will get 4x or 5x for full boxes. I don't usually get full boxes of new coins until later in the year after the premiums have fallen off. :x

The 2012 pennies should be showing up anytime now.

they show up in Puerto Rico first...book now so you can get a cheap flight and bring some new pennies back. Sell on Feebay and you should be able to recover your flight cost if you go on Southwest.

Do you know why that is?

I know P.R. has been the case the past couple of years, it is probably a safe gamble again this year but I don't think it's set in stone. Monitor the locations of 2012 boxed coin (in any denomination) coming off eBay, that's a really good indicator.

Areas with "hot" economies get more new coin over the course of a year than areas that are stagnant or losing population. (This might be NODAK's year for early 2012's!) The economy might be a factor in P.R., not sure. Anyone know if P.R. is growing by leaps and bounds population wise?

I guess I will have to ask my daughter-in-law in ND. I know that most banks get their coins from the Bank of North Dakota so you may not see whole boxes.
