It seems everyone is around 25 to 30 percent with boxes of pennies. I would be ecstatic if this ever happened. Now granted Ive only every done about 8 boxes but my best ever had exactly 20% CU. I am in southern California so I am interested if the region dictates % success rate.

Welcome!!! I'm also in Southern California and what you are seeing is the same for me. If I find a box with a percentage as high as 20% its a reason to celebrate. I've been averaging 18% since I started about six months ago.

If you read the long-term reporting stats, 18-20 in S Cal are good numbers. I recall people reporting more like 12-16 there. Yes, region makes a huge difference.

I'm in between twin cities and Milwaukee, 20%+ every time or I'm noticing it. Lately I've noticed more like 30% average and dropping. I weigh all my rolls into funnest rolls 30% or greater, less fun rolls 20-30%, and then no fun rolls, around 131 gram rolls, which are less than 20%. Last fall my loomis rolls were really getting bad, up to half a box of rolls right around 20%, more or less, and I quit searching for a month. One day, all they had were pennies, got great boxes and have been searching since, upped my boxes to three a week.

My last loomis box just just made a drop, not much, but the first couple weeks of the year were amazing.

Northern Ca and southern Ca run about the same.. 18-20%. But I'll take our weather over some of our fellow members' higher percentages. You can only sort where you are. Just do what I do.. "'Just sort more!"

East Texas...We average 16%-18% tops. We will get a 20% box every now and then but they are rare. 10 - 12 wheats per box.

In East Tenn. I get about 30% and also roughly 15-20 wheats per box. I think the area I live in just has a lot of 'old' money and the culture here was to save up in jars for ever and ever. Their kids, grandchildren, ect. are just dumping these in banks now and if you go on the right day, you can get pretty lucky. I tend to ask for rolls not in boxes first. I've had several full wheat rolls! Very lucky! It doesn't happen all the time (or that's all I'd ever do - plus drive my wife nuts) but it's a very nice surprise when it does!
