I know this is the general area, but wanted to get this out there for all to have a look

Machines are a couple weeks out from "full" production

Very nice... I just started using my apprentice for real today... I've been testing it for how I wanted it calibrated and what kind of error rate it has for over a week...

With the new one, what kind of error rate are you getting?

I find that in my current one, I am having about 6 coppers per $25 total (zinc and copper) sorted being rejected. That's dependent on the sample I use. Have you improved the accuracy or maintained it with the new one?

Also, what price point are you looking at? I think you had mentioned a trade in option for those that already own one in another post...

Thanks Andy...

I think what you are seeing is perfectly normal. A Ryedale accuracy is not measured on what it rejects, but on the accuracy of what it Accepts.
There is probably a small amount of tin or other trace metals in each of the rejected copper coins that causes the comparitor to reject the coin.
http://www.pennysorter.com/sorting-pennies/faqs
Try this link, and scroll down to the FAQ that's labeled "why does my machine reject some wheat pennies" they may not be wheat pennies in your case, but they probably have the odd metals that throw the electronic signature off slightly.
Now if your machine is accepting (with a copper reference coin) 6 zincs to the copper side in $25 then i'd say there is a problem.

not exactly, have not scaled up production yet, or bought components in quantity etc. It takes quite a bit of bench time to add the components, and some hand soldering joints.
I'll probably do them separately, like the following

Apprentice = $$$
Apprentice + 2 channel counter = $$$
MAXX with PWM = $$$
MAXX with both PWM and COUNTER = $$$

This is based not only on the component cost but the bench time for the changes.

I'm estimating the speed control and counters will be between $75 and $100 combined, which I think is a fair price considering the components and the added bench time.

Yes they can...
If you just want the speed control, I'll only require the cube hopper of the machine, if you want the counters too, I'd need the whole thing.

In the info for your video. If you add "http://" to the website, it will appear as a hyper link.

Awesome stuff. I like the Ipad and phone counter combo.

I hope the iPhone didn't confuse things. It was just there as the time keeper. Counter is the little black box with LCD display.
