1982 penny question

Postby robroy » Fri Mar 02, 2012 4:47 pm

As I have finally gotten a scale, I have seperated the zinc from the copper, but there remains a question for me. According to the penny albums 1982 has both a large and small date for both mints. Right now I have having a world of difficulty in telling the difference between the two dates. Is there really a way to tell the difference between the two dates appearances? Anybody have advice on how to tell the differance? Thanks................

When you find both....the small date is really small compared to the big date.

Thanks for that link everything, very easy to understand. I've been playing some Whitman bingo and have a few albums full minus the 82's. Very helpful link, seems easy enough :)

I save ALL BU 82 cents, separate copper and zinc. when you put all 7 variations in a group, worth at least worth six bux on ebay. the effort of weighing 82s can pay off!

I usually use a loupe and concentrate on the differences in the way the '2' is shaped in sm vs. lg date coins. The small date has a visible curve that large does not.
