Final selling price?

Postby Cu Lung » Tue Mar 06, 2012 3:35 am

Stack, stack and finally more stacking. What price in the future is everyone looking to unleash their hoard for sale? ( as much as possible is not an answer either  )

i'm stacking because i don't want to hold on to FRNs. While i will sell some copper to get more silver, i expect to keep sorting pennies until i no longer have room to store them.

If things go the way I imagine it, sometime in the next 10 years copper hits $10/lb, but the melt ban will still be in place (it won't make sense to keep it in place, so naturally congress will do nothing about it). Anyway, at that price enough people become aware of copper cents that the market for them is much more active. I can sell locally via a craigslist ad without incurring ebay/paypal/shipping fees. Under those conditions I'd consider selling at 3x face or better so I could convert to silver.

I'm in agreement with hammerrob. If I can get 3x locally, I'll sell it all just as fast as I can sort, probably keeping a box or two just to hold on to for myself.

.....sorting will be concluded by the time you see 3X locally....banks will stop selling way before then....

Ok, I'll bite - 25 times face.

Will I ever live to see that without hyperinflation? Who knows, but I'm in no rush to sell.

I hand sorted a couple of boxes a week until I hit $1000 face and have since worked my way up to about $1200 face pulling copper from pocket change and picking up about 10 to 20 rolls a week at the bank to sort if I was out of halves and bored. It it never hits my sell price it will go to the kids or even grandkids one day and they can sell when the price is right. They both know what to look out for.
If you are waiting for the "correction" to buy you need to realize that the increasing prices ARE the correction.

$100 Silver soon coming to a location near you.

Under normal circumstances, I would probably start selling some here and there at around 5x face.

Stupid question, but what does FRN stand for? Federal Reserve Note?

They're no stupid questions only stupid answers.

And dannan's guessed answer wasn't one of them. Federal Reserve note it is. Good guess!

Whenever I can make a decent profit on them. If I can let them go for 1.4x each, I should be content.
