Found a ??? copper coin in the reject, VALTO PENZ -- MAGYAR KIRALYI around the interior with a coat-of arms in the center, on the reverse a big "1" and year 1885 and initials KB below. Any idea what it is? Would scan but I'm on dial up here in the Dark Corner of S>C>

Hungarian Royal Token

These copper coins from Hungary come in two denominations, 5/10 krajczar and 1 krajczar. The 5/10 coin was minted only in 1882 and carries values very similar to the 1 krajczar coins.

The catalogs report that 1883 is somewhat more rare than other dates, along with 1878 and 1882 which are also slightly rare, so bump up the values below by a factor of two if you have an 1878, 1882, or 1883 coin.

worn: $2 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $5
well preserved: $10
fully uncirculated: $18

You can always try www.numista.com

Some coins that I had no clue on.....I would just type what I see on the coin into the search box!!!!

That site rocks.....but we have some good experts here that rock, too! :D (not me)

No matter where you found it, it is still a good interesting find. I love finding coins from other counties.

I've found coins from Singapore and hong kong in with my pennies. One of which had scalloped edges and appeared in quite good condition especially for being so far from home.

I save all I find and my wife brings home lost wayward coins home all the time.
