Appraise Please :) (Still needs appraisal)

What do you think about this penny? I think it might be a mint error. My previous thread had a picture of it still in a flip and had it looking old and scratched. So, what do you think it's worth?

Can you be more specific on what are you looking for? The extra hair?
Its hard to tell with the plastic, camera flash, sideways cent.

Yeah, the extra hair, I had to take this with a phone so it's a bit low quality

If it came out of a roll of cents then someone pulled it out of a mint set and spent it. When it started out as part of a mint set a collector must have owned it. I would think that at that point it would have been saved if it was an error. So I think it is post mint.

Bummer, so selling it as an error is out of the question? Edit : The coin is actually in great condition I took it out of the package, the package was making it look really scratched up. It looks as if something was smashed into the hair area and the left over is a pile up of metal on his forehead. It looks like maybe it was burnt

Need to crop your photo and then resize it. Details are easier to see that way.

Now the problem is the light. Can you take another pic with a different lighting source. AND....try turning off your flash. The proof are too shiny for a flash.

I'm more interested in the area to the right of Abe's chin.

You may have a "struck through"! That's looks a little like a piece of cloth got on top of the planchant when it was struck. If you have a loupe, look at that area and see if you see the tiny little lines that could have been made from fibers from the cloth. I had one and it was COOL. It's worth more if there are any fibers still stuck in the coin.

Hard to tell now....his head...is there a gash...can you describe what you see or get an angle shot. Someone else will get to the bottom of this. Hard to tell for me.

Without seeing the reverse, I doubt that it is post mint error... maybe it is a post pistol bust. Can you post an image of the reverse?

I asked Mike Diamond last year president of http://conecaonline.org/ and--

I can't determine the nature of the blemish from your photo.

It looks like the LIBERTY is doubled
If I have the gift of prophesy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to move mountains but do not have love I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned but do not have love it profits me nothing.

Good eye.

From -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proof_coinage#United_States_proof_coins

Most proof coins are double struck. This does not normally result in doubling that is readily observable, but does result in the devices being struck fully.
