The numbers are actually a hair higher than stated since they use pennies without wear for their calculation. 147 coppers is what I have found on average for 1lb.

Isn't it pretty much a wash between the loss from wear and the weight gained from the dirt and gunk on the coins?

You must be younger than me, Canadians my age learned both Imperial and metric.

American coppers = 3.11 grams, or exactly 1/10th a troy ounce.

One roll of coppers = 5 troy ounces. Easy peasy.

Canadian pennies have different weights - but there are some good averages for mixed date CDN CU
