The Emotional Rollercoaster

Postby Doctor Steuss » Tue May 22, 2012 4:03 pm

I got a phonecall from my CU on Friday of last week. They said those magic words, "an old lady came in and dropped off $85 in pennies."

I've sorted about $50 of it. Copper percentage has only been about average (10%-ish). Have only found 4 wheats.

Hopes raised and then dashed on the rocks.

Old ladies aren't as reliable as they used to be

Having your hopes dashed is still painful, however.

Heck I was in the CU today and the vault teller told me, "you just missed it". A guy was in and dumped silver halves. I did try and get at the bag but their policy does not allow it. Hopefully I get it back in boxes in a few weeks.

I need to repent to the old lady gods for murmuring against them.

I had two rolls left that I wasn't in any hurry to sort given the lackluster performance of the other $84 in pennies. In the second to last roll, there was a XF 1903 Indian Head cent.

Old ladies be praised.

Interesting how a lowly copper can at times create such humility in many of us, like bending down to pick one up, searching give a penny TAKE a penny tray, etc., etc. :D
