Are their any sources other than pennies for copper?

I like copper pennies and all, but are there any other places to buy any form of copper for a reasonable premium?

If you have a good relationship with your local scrapyard, you can buy from them. They'll want you to buy large quantities at a time, and you won't be getting bullion, but this way you can get it below spot price.

If you just show up at a scrapyard you've never been to before and ask to buy copper, they will tell you to get lost.

Note that pennies are denser and much easier to store than most of the forms of copper dealt with at scrap yards, you just have to work harder and/or pay a premium for them. It's a trade-off.

In this economy, I prefer electrical substations.Nice heavy copper wire coils. it helps keep jobs for the repairmen.note: anyone prone to electrocution MIGHT want to stick with pennies.

I think just about every day their is a story about a copper theft somewhere. I think copper is hard to invest in unless you buy in during a recession, and buy at least a ton or three.

Failed dot com headquarters that rhyme with MaceLook usually have a lot of copper network wiring. Haha

JPMorgan will be offering 61,800 tonnes of paper copper soon, because we all know that copper needs more artificial speculative fluff to make it more expensive.
