This week's roll finds

Postby DuckTales253 » Fri Jun 01, 2012 10:19 am

Found quite a few wheat pennies in my rolls this week, 18 in all, from under $100 worth of coins. One of them was a wheat "ender" on the roll (see attached photo). It turned out to be a 1919! Also a good amount of copper. I really need to start keeping more detailed statistics. I am curious about returns and percentages. Next time...

How many wheats do you typically get per box/bag? I would expect to find a lot more than 18 in $100...
267,500 pennies and 186,000 nickels searched. Hand sorter.

yeah I was going to say the same thing, i usally get betwen 40-50 per $25 box.
Also it seems 1919 is very common here in NY, besides the 40's and 50's wheats, I have more 1919's than any other year, I usually find 1 every other box, but out of the last 60 1919's only 1 was a 1919s mint, the rest were just phil. mints

Dang dude! That's a great wheat percentage. I'm lucky to get 10 in a $25 box

Yeah my last 5 or 6 boxes last week were great, around 40 per box, but they were the closest to uncir. out of all of the coppers. I got a 1946s, probably not worth much, but was perfect

Yeah.. I probably get like 10-12 on average. The record's 26, but of course I've only done 8 boxes so far...
