I have someone locally looking for pennies, I am behind in sorting by 25 box so I offere to sell 20 box. It looks like we might have come to a deal of 580.00 for the 20 box, Would you guys sell them if offered 580.00?

Edit: I would buy silver with most of the 580.00

are you saying $580 for 20 boxes? I would say NO if that is the case.

yes 580.00 for 20 box of unsorted pennies, so I would be making 80.00 for doing nothing really

You can always get more pennies from the bank. Looks like you could get 80 dollars profit without even sorting.

However, you are also giving away a possible 9000 copper cents.
2500 cents in a box x 20 boxes x 18% copper cents = 9000 copper cents

According to coinflation, $90 copper cents is worth $198 in melt value. You can probably sell them for ~$120.

So, you cut your potential profit in more than half, however you save the time it would take to sort, and then dump the zinc cents.

I would go for the deal. Reinvest the profit into more boxes :)

yup. sell them.
You could weigh them and keep the 5 heaviest. (Of course a 1969s DDO is in one of those boxes - do you feel lucky?)

It would depend on how much money you spent in gas gathering them, and how much effort it would take to replace them. For me, an $80.00 profit would be worth it cause I dont have to count my gas money. Husband goes to town once a week for business and that is when he gets my pennies. And we have no problem getting as many as we want... so .... yes I would do that... but I would re invest in pennies again, except for the $80. profit.... I would probably buy wheats or Indian heads with the profit... :D

Thanks, I offered them at 30.00 a box and she asked how much if she took all 20 and I came down to 580.00 but I think that will be my lowest. I drive right past the bank so no gas involved. I have a standing order of three box a week and I handsort so I do not see myself having time to sort the 20 box anytime soon

Heck yea, I'd sell em. Does she not know the bank sells them for $25?

This is the best option. (The odds that the DDO is in the one you keep are increased by the wt.)

I have a similar deal with a guy near me. He is unable to obtain large amounts of pennies. I sell him $350 every other week. He takes either boxes or bags whatever I have for $410.
