Fertile Wheat Patch

I think I caught someone's wheatie's dump. Out of the same amount of boxes that I would usually score two pre-1940's (if I'm lucky... sometimes it's just one or a skunk) I found 31! My total wheaties count, which on avg would be about 36... was 199! I know it's silly... why would anyone get excited over just finding some dumb pennies? I guess it's just the thrill of the hunt... and finally making a find. I figured I would hit a streak from someone's dump if I just hung in there. Also included in the finds were an AU50 1944d, an AU55 1945, and a blazing red MS65 1958d

31 pre 40's from the usual $120 face?

Strong showing.

Ouch, save some for the rest of us Ray! I once found a nice batch like this but it was from an old pocket change penny stash from 30+ years in the making. Conga rats!

I'm pretty sure you picked up my batch of pennies by mistake, could you just mail them to me?

Yeah, the usual $120 sorted. Since I don't know if Aaron is gonna restart the pre-1940's thread I'll post here until (maybe?) it shows up. Here's what I found, all well-circulated... 1919 x 3, 1920, 1928, 1929 x 2, 1929s, 1934 x 5, 1935 x 2, 1935s, 1936, 1936s x 3, 1937 x 2, 1938 x 2, 1939 x 6, 1939s. The following batch of $120 cooled off, but still better than my average: 1934 x 2, 1936s, 1937, 1938, 1939s x 2 :)

I was told by someone that is a coin expert on Saturday at the coin show that because of this fact, the price that wheats are bringing these days is dropping. He said he and others he knows are lucky to get three cents each for them now.

However, with that being said, I willingly paid 5 cents each to get two rolls of well circulated (even some nasty ones) 1955 wheats.

Enjoy your coin searches, everyone. :geek:

I've read about these fantasy rolls, but never expected to get one...till today. Good googaly moogaly. One CWR with 23 wheats, of which 2 were S mint marks. Nothing rare just 40's and 50's except for one '36. No clad, not even one, best roll ever. I am still diggen on it!!! :D

Nice score Ray!! There be dream boxes out there!

Also amazing rickygee...I've had big scores in nickels and half dollars and dimes but not pennies even though I've sorted the most of them.
