It has been a while since I posted so I figured my first post in such a long time might as well be a good one and this one is.
I went to a bank that used to be one of my regulars, but I havent been to in a month. I go in and say hi to all the 'regular' teller I know and ask for the usual 'halves, pennies, dimes, nickels, 2010' line and get my coin. I also ask for old bills because I like the old style and it how I save money. Most times they are from 1995 or 1988 but the one teller said they had a old one that was torn and taped in the 'mutilated file to the fed' envelope. Figured it was a nasty 1995 but still asked for it. But it was some thing quite different:
1929 $20 National Currency Bill for Kansas City Brown seal!!!!
She said 'yeah its from 1929 and I would have bought it but it was torn'. I was amazed. I do not know much about it, any info would be grateful.
To make things better I opened the dime rolls to find 12 silver dimes in one roll! I bought $95 in dimes that yielded 18 silver dimes total. 2 Merc's 2 King George VI's Canada and the rest Roosevelt. $60 in nickels yielded 13 war nickels, 35 .999 Cans, 25 before 1950.
Pretty amazing day and welcoming back to sorting! I might wanna get any quarters if they have any- havent even checked the pennies yet!
