I have been storing my pennies in 2 gallon buckets but that startes to get expensive buying buckets and lids. I bought some of the plastic bags that you put 50.00 in and then seal, will they hold up for storage?

I think so, I'm "banking" on it. I moved all my hoard out of 5 gallon buckets a couple months ago and into the heavy duty plastic bags and think they are a better long term storage option and a much more convenient one too.

How do you seal them? I have plenty of bags I could use...

They have adhesive covered by a plastic strip, just like how a bubble mailer is sealed. Once these bags are pressed close they have a very solid seal that will keep out any water and possible contaminants.

The bags that the bank gives are a little less sturdy than the ones that you can buy online. The ones that are really heavy duty cost approx .60 cents a bag, on a good day. Use once then you need to replace. At Loews, with a coupon they are selling 5 gallon buckts for 2.00 - I know that's more expensive but they last a lot longer.
When I take bags into BofA and chase they want to use their bags... I am always worried that they will tear. The fort Knox ones I ought online I know will withstand being tossed around. Just my two cents.

No need to reinvent the wheel here. The banks have figured out what works well.

I moved from buckets to these bags. I like the fact they stack like sand bags. These will hold up for years to come and are already counted (in my case). I just got to the point of; I'll sell before I melt (when the ban is lifted) and that is why I got rid of the buckets. Plus I really need to go to pallets anyways.

+1 for Fort Knox...Only bag I use for my hoard.

I've moved my stack of copper over to bags as well. I was scared to death to have a hefty 5 gallon bucket break on me. It would take a fair amount of time to pick all those cents back up! My local Credit Unions are good at giving me a bag or two every now and then. The only issues i have seen with the bags is the handles really cut into my hands when i over load them!
