Your thoughts and/or advice please

Postby Sheba » Mon Aug 13, 2012 9:57 pm

Hi everyone. What is the 'consensus' (if one exists) on saving the nice, shiny 2009s (any that are found and look new). Any value or wisdom in this? Or is it best to just concentrate on 'hoarding' coppers? Thanks ahead of time for anyone's thoughts.

Do not save these. I literally sold 1 semi and a half of some of the different types. Only ones worth any money any more are the 4th design P's.

If you had them in 2009, they were valuable. Today, only worth face value.

Damn, I've been hoarding mine... I guess I'll stop doing that now. I knew it was stupid, but I kept doing it anyway...

LORD Adam Young, by fourth design which one do you mean?

Yeah, I figured it was that one. It's noticeably less common than the others, but still not rare. Although I haven't been checking the mint marks. I can't believe I was hoarding 2009s due to "low mintage"... they made over 2 billion!

I thought there were errors too. I have about $25 FV that I have just been tossing in a box as I see them. I don't exert any effort into sorting them out. I just toss it in the box if I happen to have one in my hand. Thought I could look through for errors some night when I was bored. Are there any worth selling if you find them? Maybe I should give it up and just dump these.

How about a bunch of shiny 2012's? I have amassed a mini hoard of these types of zincs. Reluctant to give em up just yet....unless they really don't have any value other than face. Should I cash them all in or save a small amount of them? Thoughts?

I'm of the same opinion as NHsorter. When I see them I set them aside for furure sorting. Don't see to many though (probably because a lot of people are hoarding them also. But what I find interesting is that in my latest box I only saw 6 2009's and just one was of the 4th variety.

Now it's becoming a matter of curiousity when I see them. If they're to bad looking I don't even bother anymore. But in the past year after going through over 85 boxes I really don't see many of them out of the many millions I've only found maybe 500 with very few of them of the 4th variety type.
Don't look back. Something may be gaining on you.

Neither a penny or a nickel is worth face value anymore.

I'm just a poor wayfaring stranger.
