Coinstar needs to add EBay and/or PayPal

Postby TheJonasCollegeFund » Tue Aug 28, 2012 7:33 am

Any thoughts on getting through to CoinStar with the fact that we need EBay or at least PayPal added to our FREE choices when making dumps.

Life would be SO much easier!

Would a mass email campaign by members here work?

PayPal you can use at a few stores. So it not an odd idea.

If your trying to get through to coinstar, your at the wrong end of the payment spectrum. The merchants pay coinstar a fee so you get a free gift certificate to their stores, similar to them paying visa or mastercard a fee for your purchase. If you want ebay/paypal to be on coinstar, you have to convince Ebay that it would be in their best interest to pay coinstar a fee for you. Coinstar has no interest in having people dumping coins into their counters unless someone is paying them money.

I did just take advantage of a Lowe's coinstar dump to pick up some new mower blades though. I hope as many vendors as possible see it is to their advantage to pay coinstar fees to get our business.

I'd be happy even if they had a fuel option. Zinc to gas at no fee would be great.

I think Coinstar should be free if you selected a giftcard for the store where the machine is located.

Paying Paypal via zinc would be good. Chip off the CC debt bit by bit as I wished......

I dump ALL my zincs at coinstar. da bay or paypal would be awesome but dont think it will happen, they make their coin by TAKING fees, not paying them. That being said, I put all my dumps on amazon gift. You can get a LOT of stuff you wouldnt think of. balance never expires.not including the books, and the kindle, I have used my balance for wrappers, a gram scale, coin flips, tubes etc...fun stuff for my new car. you can buy anything there, just have to figure in shipping versus the TAX savings(tax VERY high here in NY)

+1

There's a coinstar at the Pic n Save Grocery store I go to. Wish I could dump some zincs, then buy food with their card.
Oh, this is the worst-looking hat I ever saw. What, when you buy a hat like this I bet you get a free bowl of soup, huh?

Oh, it looks good on you though.

Don't know if this will help your campaign or not, but on the coinstar website when you are logged in, under the settings tab of mycoinstar is a bunch of check boxes titled "Please let us know what brands you are most interested in so we can make your Coinstar experience more personal." Make sure you check the Paypal check box. Did Paypal used to be an option at one point in time? I think it's the only checkbox in the list that isn't currently a gift certificate option.

Do they have a check box for the Portland Mint or the Copper Cave?

Looks like they do in Dallas from -- https://www.thepaypalblog.com/2012/05/paypal-and-coinstar-test-a-new-way-to-help-consumers-unleash-the-power-of-cash-and-coins-2/

PayPal and Coinstar Test a New Way to Help Consumers Unleash the Power of Cash and Coins
MAY 16, 2012
While many of our competitors are focused on the mobile wallet—at PayPal we’re busy bringing our users an array of commerce solutions in both the online and offline worlds. We are doing this from your PayPal account online, to connected devices like Xbox, using PayPal in-store at The Home Depot and of course, the smartphone. In short, we’re making money work better in today’s multi-channel shopping environment. It’s time to “think outside the phone,” so to speak.

The latest example?

PayPal and Coinstar, the leader in the self-service coin-counting services, have teamed up to test a convenient, secure way for consumers to fund their PayPal accounts with cash and coins at select grocery stores through Coinstar kiosks. A pilot test began in the Dallas metropolitan area last year, and has already seen quick adoption and interest from both PayPal and Coinstar users. The results have been impressive. We’ve found that 40 percent of our testers go back to use PayPal at Coinstar machines again and through survey research, we’re getting high marks from our users on the integration.

Sorry folks, but only our friends in Dallas can check this out for now! If you’re in Dallas, please find your nearest participating Albertsons, Brookshire’s, Super 1, Olé Foods, or Minyard Food Stores by using the PayPal/Coinstar store locator. At the Coinstar machine, follow the prompts to either load funds into or withdraw funds from your PayPal account. To receive cash, redeem your withdrawal voucher in store. To access your newly loaded funds at a later time, login to your PayPal account at home or from your mobile device. It’s really that easy…and convenient.

We’re delighted to work with Coinstar to enable our users to transact anytime, anywhere and in any way. And if you’re able to check out a Coinstar kiosk with PayPal in the Dallas area, we want to hear from you! Tell us what you think so we can keep improving the experience.
