I recently bought a Ryedale Maxx to search for dimes, but its awfully hard to keep fed...so I imagine I'll be doing some pennies on the off days to keep busy. For the long weekend, I "only" picked up six bags of cents, which yielded a CTU early Saturday morning. After doing all my chores I have some downtime, and have been thinking of the best way to approach the hoard.

In my position, how would you start your copper hoard?
Separate out the wheats and Canadians, or leave them as treasures to advertise as unsearched?
Order Ft. Knox bags or box them up as mini-CTUs?
Something else?

One thing to consider is that I'll probably be moving in the next few years, so the ability to sell quickly or move easily would be preferable.

Key is your intent I think and you've answered some of your own questions. What I do wouldn't apply so much to your case so others might be better help. I sort for myself, for a static hoard not expected to move. I have tweaked my process over two years and for past year have been packing clean coins with all Wheats and Canadian pulled, in $50 Fed rated plastic bags. The ugly Abe's get put into plastic gallon jugs for future disposition - whether later melt after melt ban lift, or cleaning.

If I had to do it again I probably wouldnt lol. In too deep now.

I wouldn't have taken so many breaks over the decades.

I'd like to know how you're doing with dimes

I keep wheats and Canadians separate. My multi-sort process separated most of the wheats, so I didn't search out the stragglers. I've needed to raise some cash recently, so I sold some on eBay for up to 8x face! Last night I tweaked the settings on my Ryedales to snag as many as possible.

One of these days I need to sell the Canadians I've accumulated.
