There are ebay anomolies all over the place. There are stories here of people accidentally buying clad for silver prices, etc. I myself once accidentally bought a bunch of 1967's for nearly full silver melt :)

Now if this guy can sell $500 face or so per week then there is something there, but my guess is that it takes a lot of luck to "hit" on a sales-deal like this one and that it wouldn't be sustainable over $40 or so face per week.

The auction is complete! He sold those rolls for 19.09 + shipinng.

His description is 100% accurate. No deception whatsoever. I'll bet he is a used car salesman or military recruiter.

The buyer hears what they want to hear.

I didn't see anything that stated these could have zinc pennies. So someone could end up leaving negative feedback. Still the line about coming straight from the bank and being unsearched should be pretty obvious to everyone.

If you sell long enough on Ebay, you will know the approximate ceiling for a particular item. And every now and again that ceiling will get blown out by ridiculous bidding wars.

Let him relist, and we should all take note of what sells, should anyone here ever be so ambitious.

I'll bet you people weren't thinking and saw "20 rolls" and automatically thought "20 dollars"

A great point... I did that with a roll of 90% dimes thinking $10 not five. What's really bad is, I have been selling coin wrappers for 25 years to banks and have sold a "bazillion" dime wrappers in particular, and should have known better. Of course, I'm from Arkansas and and that should "splian" everything.... Highroller says I'm cross eyed too, but look  I'm not!

Now, if this guy could just find enough Arkansas buyers he'd have it made in the shade!

The only problem I see is the category that he had it listed in. It is listed under wheat pennies (1909-1958) mixed lots

Just asked the following question
"Why is this listed under catagory wheat cents 1909-1958?"

Got a reply!

"Wheat cents are a possibility to find in these rolls and so I am Advertising to buyers interested in wheat cents"

At first I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I disagree with his tactics

Not sure if original auction had a buy it now price, but since he successfully sold $10 in pennies for $19.09 plus having the buyer pay the $5.98 shipping, he now has another auction with a "buy it now" for $24.55.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/20-Unsearched-Penny-Rolls-Bank-N-F-String-Sons-Copper-Wheat-Pennys-Erro-/230862796942?_trksid=p4340.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D2643398587409949202%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D3%26sd%3D230862338834%26

Wonder if these will sell.

Don't forget the buyer still has to pay shipping so it turns out $10 in pennies will cost more than $20 above face value. Are people that stupid? I am from Arkansas and ain't that stupid. BTW, the photo on his listing is the same one as before and you can't see the ends. Bet they are a bunch of rolls of 2011's or 12's.

If you wonder what he is doing with all his Giant Profit from selling Common Pennies.....his feedback tells me he has a thing for Gem Proof Kennedy Halves...Last week he bought a 1983, 85, 89, 90 & 2006 Kennedy Halve. I wonder if the seller told him they were 40% Halves...

The winner only had three feedback history so it may have been a misunderstanding purchase (ie: saw title said copper, wheats, errors) and figured that's what it was rather than reading the description. Then again, the other two bidders were a lot more seasoned so who knows.

Even if buyer didn't read description negative feedback is still an option for disappointed buyer. I found that out the hard way.

I first saw this a week or two ago and wondered if it was a member. Seems a bit unscrupulous. Looks like he's sold four of the same lot already and has some nifty 2012 nickles fresh from the bank for $1.29 each.

You can tell the seller is utilizing outdated Ebay tactics to target searches for errors before Ebay started correcting typos. "Pennys" and "Erro" is almost certainly done on purpose. And the advertisement of "NF String and Son" is silly. That holds zero value. It's just the wrapper and they sell them for a living.
