Newbie hand sorter hits 50# mark!

It has been about two weeks now since I joined this hobby and during that time I have been hand sorting $25 boxes and last night I just hit the 50# mark (approx. 7500 cu pennies). It's been a lot of fun and very relaxing. Thus far I am experiencing a 17% success rate on 95% copper pennies. I have also found 154 wheats and one Indian head. The two best wheats were both 29s'. Well it's a beautiful saturday morning here in so. Cal so I'm off to the bank again! Happy hunting, Don.

Wow those are some low percentages. I get about 25-30% here in NC. Anyone know why copper is so dry in Cali?

Great job with the copper. Now don't get burned out too soon. Slow and steady wins the race! Oh yeah, about your beautiful Southern California weather....nice! The weatherman predicts possible foot and a half snow by Tuesday here. I'll bet you don't know the feeling of slipping and falling while carrying a box or two of cents. Things like that affect percentages in these parts!

Percentages are lower there because of HCBTT. I can't remember his new screen name.

Joogaler, 25 to 30% success rate would be a dream come true for me. So far my best roll only contained 17 coppers and my worst had but three! :(

I get about 30% on the avg. but now I am getting 50% plus. I have someone turning in about 30 cream cans full on pennies. In fact 1992 are the newest ones I'm now finding.

Posters and fellow copper fans, I am at only about 12% here in Virginia! Until I found this site, I thought I was the lone cause of decreasing numbers of circulating coppers...

My gosh! HCBBT (the hoarding feline) is even causing low percentages in Virginia.

For my sake, I hope CardsNCoins means he's collected 8,000 individual copper cents in two weeks rather than $8,000 worth, or 800,000 pennies. Because if it's the latter, I am not coming close to what full potential could be. I think even Hoard would be impressed with $4,000/week.

HOLY COW I AM AN AIRHEAD! OK I am new to this board and I wrote that I am at about 12% coppers here in Virginia - forgive me, I think my brain dropped out because I am at about 12 coppers per ROLL which all of you smart copper-heads out there know that tranlates to about 24%. Ugh! Sorry, I guess I am actually doing pretty OK...(how embarrassing).
