and the first words out of your mouth under your breath was ....
i have always dreaded doing that. worst i did was drop a roll of nickels in the middle of the parking lot and it broke open.

it just means we are all human, and feel your pain.

Those wouldn't have been the first words out of my mouth!!

I have always dreaded the thought of doing that when I walk into the bank with a bag in each hand.

Next rule when asking your kids to pick up spilled coins up tell them to leave the rocks out. Good part we got to see in inside of the coin counter.
Photo from last year but the same counter that we jamed with rocks.

I had something related to that happen to me just today. When I went to pick up my 10 boxes of halves at the bank today I had 9 of the usual oblong flat Loomis boxes and 1 square Brinks boxes waiting on me. I loaded the 9 regular boxes on the handtruck as usual, but the short square box wasn't long enough to rest on both braces. Well, half way thru the lobby it fell off, busted open and I had a couple rolls bust open and the rest rolled everywhere around the lobby.

Luckily there were only 2 other customers there in the lobby and the desk people helped me gather it up. Still, the security guards reaction was funny. He moved to the center of the lobby, put his hand on his pistol and stood there like he was prepared to fight an advancing hoard off.

I like to spill my milk on the floor of my truck. Done that many times when taking a corner a little fast. :x

I have a wet dry vac for the car... I wonder if that would suck them off the floor?

Recently I was trying to show off to one of the ladies at the bank. I had forgotten my dolly and didn't want to ask for their cart for my order of Halfs, The rectangle boxes. the teller said its heavy don't you need a dolly. I said No... It's ok, I can handle it. I picked up 6 boxes (150 pounds)and carried them out to the car. When I got out there though I didn't know how or what to do with it all because I still needed to open the trunk and my keys are in my pocket. At this point my face is purple or red, I just dropped it straight on the floor next to my trunk. For a while after I was walking around like a gunslinger waiting for a showdown. My arms were cramping and twitching.
Next time I'm asking for the dolly... It would have been easier to offer her a ride on it instead of trying to be the hulk.

Unfortunately I recently spilled a bag in the trunk without knowing it and pennies were everywhere you could imagine except in the bag of course. I had to remove some of the liner and spare tire and all accessories to get to them. I know there are some between the fender and the edge of the trunk that will just have to stay put unless something worse happens. I feel your pain.

I have two stories. First one was a open bag open bag of dimes. They were sitting in the passenger seat. I slammed on the breaks, the bag fell over, the zip tie came off and a sea of dimes rolled out of the bag, onto the floor and up under the dash.

The second was while dumping an open box of halves. I dropped them in the bank parking lot. The box was open and I had opened the rolls and put the coins back in. The parking lot was on a slight grade and the halves went rolling everywhere. Had to wait for some people to leave to try to collect them all.

Thanks so much for posting your "downfall" :D And for all the great stories about 'dumped' coins :D

I think I just was given a wonderful reason for why the good Lord did not allow me to be 'rich' .... being a hand sorter of small amounts (rolls), I carry them out in a heavy bank zippered bag. So far no disasters in parking lots or bank lobbies

By the way, wanted to tell you for some time, I am so impressed with how you have worked and are working with you son in this endeavor. God bless you!! :)

Last week I watched a teller dump ~2500 coins on the floor around their counter...and it took everything I had to keep a straight face!

After a few spills of my own, it felt good to see someone else screw up for a change. ;)

My massive spill story involves casino chips. 2657 one dollar chips - and the best part? I had to watch as the casino staff picked them up!

I had about 10 pounds of Canadian coins spill on the kitchen floor - picking those up were easy with my 100# pull magnet and a cookie sheet...

I had a canvas bank bag of dimes(1000.00) fall through the leg hole of a shopping cart. It was horrible, tipped right over and spilled at least 2/3. It took awhile to pick them up. This old black man came and helped me pick up every one. Man did he ever have questions.

Spill #1. I was trying to take a bucket of pennies out of the back of the van. Bucket holds $280.00+ in pennies. The bottom hits the plastic molding at the end of the carpet and tips over. Easily over $100.00 fall into the parking lot. I had 3 customers help pick them up.

Spill #2. I had a bucket in the van ready to go back. Took a corner too fast and it fell over. Spent 10 minutes in a parking lot scooping up pennies

After some of these stories, I'm feeling better about spending the extra couple of dollars on bags with ties.
